Apple calls out HTC's entire One series in its third ITC complaint

Just when things just started to turn around for HTC and its latest smartphones in the US, they are being hit with a third complaint from Apple regarding alleged patent infringements. As we’re all too familiar by now, HTC has been in the hot seat of late with its latest device, as Apple sought out to ban sales of specific smartphones in the US with acomplaint to the International Trade Commission.

Well folks, the saga continues as Apple quietly rolled out a third complaint to the ITC on June 4th! At heart, this new filing is still calling out HTC’s violation of patents regarding “data tapping.” Very recently, HTC began selling the HTC One X and EVO 4G LTE after they mentioned that they modified the software so that it didn’t infringe upon Apple’s patents.

However, it appears as though Apple still believes that HTC is still infringing on the patents – despite HTC’s claims of not doing it anymore. Therefore, this third complaint to the ITC takes aim on a wider range of HTC devices (29 to be exact) – including the beloved One series. If the complaint is validated by the ITC, we could potentially see yet another lengthy ban of HTC devices being imported into the country.

No doubt, it’s going to hurt HTC if this latest complaint goes through, but in the end, it’s simply consumers who will be affected most. So what do you think about all of this? If anyone is seriously thinking about getting any of the One series smartphones, you’d better snag on the chance now.
